I have a great passion for fitness. I love helping others develop the love for health and wellness especially teens. Since we've found CrossFit I have loved the physical and mental challenges I've experienced along the way. I now look back at the hours spent in the gym and can't believe the amount of potential I was wasting. Training new crossfitters is always a great joy. Once you get your feet wet with CrossFit there is No turning back. I PROMISE.

If you have weight-room blues, like I did: long hours in the gym, same moves day-in-day-out, not much excitement? I encourage you to try a Cross-fit workout. Cross-Fit workouts are quick, high impact workouts with new/different moves in each workout, it helped me break out of the daily weight room routine. I hope to make your training experience intense, challenging and fun.

Physical exercise and competition is something that I have enjoyed since I was very young. Coming up, I played tennis, soccer and basketball for Wilson High School, West Lawn, Pa. I went on to play four years of Division I tennis at the University of Delaware. Probably many of you can relate to having many demands on your time, and that is the same for me! My primary work is disaster response planning, and I have a 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter. While my goals for myself include getting more proficient at some specific movements and improving at some specific events, what is most important to me about CrossFit is the all encompassing nature of it, from physical fitness, to nutrition, to mental toughness. I am all around healthier since I started crossfitting in 2008. I started coaching for Apex in 2010 and I really enjoy helping others dig deep in one way or another to keep growing as athletes and people. Crossfit Apex is a great community of positive people…and for me, Crossfit is a tremendous way to practice for meeting challenges well beyond the gym doors.

I am a mother of five children, a certified Life Coach and a Holistic Health Counselor. I started my CrossFit journey in September of 2011 and have not looked back. Although I considered myself “fit”, I had no idea what it meant to be CrossFit. Not only has CF changed me physically, but it has also changed my life on so many levels. The determination, self-confidence and strength you put into every workout carries with you into your everyday life. That is the message I hope to impart through training. I am constantly reminded of how lucky I have been to have found APEX in particular. It is truly a privilege be part of such an amazing training team and community.

I am 26 years old and grew up in Quakertown, PA. After graduating from high school I went on to Millersville University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Education with certifications in both Secondary Social Studies and Middle School English. I returned to my home school district where I have been a teacher for the past three years.
After college I desperately wanted to increase my levels of fitness as years of going to a traditional gym were not producing the results I wanted. I found CrossFit through word of mouth in the Quakertown School District where fellow teachers still spoke of Tanya Wagner, former phys ed. teacher and fitness phenom. Intrigued, I signed up for my one on one fundamentals with Josh and was instantly hooked.
Within six months of being a member at CrossFit Apex I knew that I wanted to share my newfound love of fitness with others by becoming a trainer myself. As a teacher it seemed only natural to work with the future Apex athletes in our junior classes. Having the privilege to build confidence, dedication, and a healthy lifestyle among younger athletes is an extremely rewarding experience. Thanks to CrossFit Apex I have found a way to challenge myself both as an athlete and as an educator.

Well, unlike my fellow trainers I did NOT grow up playing sports or loving physical activity. Growing up I held my place as the musician of the family and even went on to major in it in college. Although my brother and sister (Tanya :-)) were good at sports it didn't seem that I had inherited that gene. Not only were sports not my thing, but I also always thought exercise and working out were a boring waste of time that yielded little to no results. However, a few years after the birth of my third son I was still overweight and tired of being unhappy with myself. I needed to do something but just didn't know what. Tanya and Josh had recently found CrossFit and talked me into just “trying” it with them. I was desperate, so I agreed. That first early morning in the park we hit Nancy as the WOD, and I did my OHS with a stick. I lived through it, and then continued to try new WODs day after day even though I could barely do any of it initially. I stuck with it though because there was something very intriguing about CrossFit with all the variety and challenge and goals to be met. Little by little I could see my strength increasing and things changing, and I was getting measurable results. It didn't take long to become hooked! I think CrossFit should come with a warning label because it has this crazy way of being very addicting! I had started this journey as a excersice-hating, deconditioned, uncoordinated mess and then in just two short years I found myself at the CrossFit Games with the Apex Team. It was an unbelievable transformation for me. CrossFit has absolutely changed my life and has become a part of who I am. I'm proud to be a CrossFitter and to be part of the CrossFit Community at large, and most especially the Apex Family. One of the great things about now being a trainer is the opportunity I have to encourage others and share in their achievements and their struggles as they grow with CrossFit. I know what a difference this has made in my life and I'm excited for others to experience the same. I truly understand what it's like to come on-board as a non-athlete and think this CrossFit stuff is something you could never do, but honestly if I could do it, anyone can, and I'll be happy to cheer you on along the way!

I have always loved challenging myself—physically, academically or professionally--I love testing my limits! Growing up in Doylestown, I played lacrosse, basketball, and ran cross country for Central Bucks West. I then attended the University of Pennsylvania, where I joined Army ROTC. After graduating, I was commissioned as an Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Army and spent the next 6 years living all over the place, from Colorado Springs, CO, to Baghdad, Iraq. I then went back to UPenn for my Masters in Education and am now a 9th grade Social Studies teacher in Central Bucks.

I found Crossfit after years of endurance training and racing. I always thought that in order to give myself the ultimate challenge, I had to physically go long distances. This mentality led me to complete marathons, century rides, and an Ironman triathlon. Then, in September of 2010, I found Crossfit! My entire approach to fitness and health was turned upside down. How could a 5 minute workout crush me? What is this thing you call a kipping pullup and why is it so hard to get? Wait, so you’re saying I shouldn’t carbo load with pasta and potatoes?! In a few short months I fell in love with the sport, the community and culture, and have never looked back to the days of 6 hour bike rides and “performance” gels.
I love that Crossfit WODs don’t just require strength, they require heart. I love that I feel stronger and healthier than I ever have in my life. Finally, I love helping people in their own Crossfit journey! Realizing your inner strength while testing your outer strength is a pretty powerful thing—and I am so lucky to see this everyday at Apex!

My name is Melissa and I have been doing CrossFit for about four years with Apex. Since starting, I have never even once considered taking on another form of exercise. CrossFit has become my passion and I am fortunate enough to be able to share that passion with others at Apex when I train. I currently am one of the trainers for our junior teen class and run the CrossFit Kids class that includes our 2nd through 4th graders. There is nothing that makes me happier than knowing I am changing the lives of young people by teaching them how to be healthy through exercise and nutrition.
Along with being a trainer at Apex, I am also a Health and Physical Education teacher at the Quakertown Freshman Center in the Quakertown Community School District. I am fortunate enough to teach in a district that supports our health and PE programs and sees the value in teaching young people how to be fit and increase their quality of life through exercise. My curriculum is fitness-based so I can continue to take my knowledge and experience of Crossfit and teach it to my freshman students.
I am very proud to be a member of the CrossFit Apex training team. I have never met a more dedicated, motivating, passionate, and driven group of people in all of my life. The positive energy that this group of trainers passes on to their clients is contagious and addicting….you can’t help but want to walk through their doors over and over again once you have had the experience of the Apex community.

I currently live in Telford, PA with my wife Missy and we are expecting our first child in April 2013. I attended the University of Pittsburgh from 2001 to 2008 where I earned an undergraduate degree in athletic training, then continued my education and received a clinical doctorate in physical therapy. During my clinical affiliations at Pitt, I had the opportunity to evaluate and rehab athletes from the various sports teams on campus. My senior year of undergrad I was selected for a season long internship with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was privileged enough to experience NFL football from the sidelines. I am currently working as an outpatient physical therapist and treat patients from 6 years old and up with orthopedic injuries.

I have always been an active person and love being outdoors. My hobbies include hiking, running, golfing, biking, skiing and CrossFit. Like the majority of people who maintain a membership at the local health club, I would go through cycles of being consistent, then get bored and stop going for a couple months. One day I noticed a CrossFit sign while driving home from work and decided to check it out. I have never been so humbled by a workout, but immediately knew that I needed more. I have not looked back and feel like I am in the best shape of my life. You owe it to yourself to give CrossFit a chance.
