Each day I usually browse the the internet for health/exercise articles trying to stay current with ideas and trends. Some of the websites I check regularly are CDC, WebMD, Kids Health and our Crossfit Affiliates daily posted articles. I could not help but to respond to an article I found Saturday on WebMD. WebMD has a slide show that shows
Most Effective Exercises. Many of these body weight exercises are used in CrossFit (squats, push ups, sit ups) CrossFit's workout designs are very successful using many of these fundamental movements within daily WOD's. The slide show also talks about interval training.
Training that changes the pace of your intensity throughout periods of time. (Ex. Run 800m rest 3 min. repeat 4 times, Row 500m rest 1 min. repeat 5 times) WebMD talks about varying the intensity of your aerobic workout to challenge your body instead of loafing in your comfort zone. CrossFit's programming uses interval training frequently.
WEBMD

WebMD had another article about
Unsafe Exercises.
CF OCMD reviews this article on their website called Safe exercises vs. Unsafe exercises. Steve and Kelley of
CrossFit OCMD make a great comparison of WebMD's recommendations to CrossFit's thoughts of these weight machine exercises vs. CrossFit's fundamental movements philosophies.
