APEX at the MidAtlantic Regional
Reebok CrossFit Games 2011
GREAT work all weekend long by Team Apex! Coming into the competition in 23rd place, our team did very well competing against 29 other affiliate teams to work their way up to 16th place overall!
Captain Keith "silverback" Bussom led the team with a stellar 225lb thruster on day one and an outstanding performance of pure heart and soul on day 2 with the deadlift, boxjump workout. Cody "moose" Loeffler had a fantastic debut at the competition with his hard work on the handstand pushups on day one fighting them out side by side with Kutty "littlefoot" Miller. Side by side in the 250 chipper on day 2 these guys stayed solid and consistent Kutty ripping out c2b pullups, and kettlebell swings and Cody hitting double unders like it was a walk in the park and overhead squats in lightening speed. On the ladies side, Kacie "shivers" Heilman fought through 2 days of fever and chills to do what needed to get done for the team putting up a solid 125lb thruster on day 1 and matched Keith's top notch performance on the deadlift boxjump day 2 being the only team to not drop the deadlift bar throughout the entire workout. Way to hold on to that bar! Teresa "gazelle" Davenport bounced back after a rough night of "fish dinner gone bad" for a solid day 2 chipper performance adding her reps to the totals with fast doubles and speedy kettlebell swings giving all she could. Another solid Vet, Angie "c2b" Nice cranked out her usual sternum crushing pullups and stayed solid from there all the way through to the overhead squats where she locked em in and showed no mercy. Each athlete pulled their weight, got it done and made it look easy and fun along the way! Super exciting to watch and so proud to say that's our team! Nice job you guys can't wait for 2012!
Josh, on the individual side came into the competition sitting in 13th place out of about 1700 after the Open Sectional. He worked his tail off on day 1 and 2 making it into the final day in 10th place which only the top 14 competitors advance to. He showed solid performances on all 6 workouts proving his fitness abilities across the board hitting a 245lb thruster day 1 missing 255lb by the skin of his teeth and crushing the deadlift box jump wod in only 4:54, setting a 1:05 pr from his previous time. He stayed consistent on the 100 rep wod fighting his way through each of his 100 OHS at the end. The final day, with only 14 competitors, didn't leave much room for movement in the standings yet Josh managed to climb his way up 2 places with an outstanding "Amanda" performance taking 5th place and final "row, db floor to overhead, toes to bar, overhead lunge, sprint wod" taking 11th place giving him an 8th place finish overall in the Mid-Atlantic Region consisting of PA, DE, MD, VA and NC. He looked solid and legit all weekend long pushing through these grinders. Rest up your aching legs, back and shoulders! You deserve it! We are all so proud of you Josh!

Great write up coach! We couldnt have done it without you!
As much as I would like to think my thruster was almost hundred pounds more than Josh's, it wasn't! Josh hit 245 and missed 255. Not too shabby for 180 pounds soaking wet
Great write up Tanya. Thanks so much for the kind words. I am able to work towards the levels I have achieved because of training side by side with each and all of you at APEX. Thanks for your support and push. Lets make a run next year! Training starts now!
