Kolby Jumping his way to Carson
Kolby started crossfitting at Apex in the summer of 2009 and has not looked back. He enjoys everything about the sport, from the mental pre-game preparation to the game time physical execution of each WOD.
When Kolby steps on to the floor, he shuts out the rest of the world, turns off any negative emotion and is 100% focused on the task ahead of him. He contributes his success in sports and school work to his determination and passion for hard work.
Kolby earned his ticket to Carson by placing 2nd in the Crossfit Kid's Gauntlet held at CF KOP. His numbers and times scored him high enough to earn 2nd place overall in the country. He departs for California on Thursday and will be competing on Sunday, the final day of competition for the Crossfit Games.
When asked, "What movements do you hope to see in Carson?" Kolby replied "PULLUPS!"
If you have ever seen him on the bar, you would know why......his butterfly is like poetry in motion. Kolby also hopes to see, HSPU, MU's and any type of barbell move. He feels he is mentally and physically prepared for whatever is thrown at him.
Once at the Games, Kolby is also hoping to meet 6 year vet, Chris Spealler. Both Kolby and Chris have earned success on the wrestling mat. I can see a lot of Spealler in Kolby! I (Keith Bussom) have never personally meet Chris Spealler but both are extremely hardworking, dedicated, have fantastic personalities and DO WORK!
I (Keith Bussom) have had the pleasure of coaching Kolby since 4th grade and watching him grow and mature into the man he is today. Apex congratulates him on all his successes and we wish him the best in Carson,CA!
