Canola Oil

Our resident sleuth, Angie, found a few links you should take a look at when considering what oils to use and cook with. Looks like another one to check OFF the list!

The first link has a bunch of history and detail if you have time. It's good stuff!

"This one is a short, easy read if you're having trouble getting through the one above."  It's not nearly as comprehensive and is not exactly on a trustworthy iron-clad-information site,  but this struck me as a good a quick dumbed-down way to say: canola--not good."

How bad is it that I just keep my bacon grease and use that?

In my opinion and on my scale I would rank it better than canola oil.
I would do the same thing if I made bacon. I just dont' usually have the time. My next choice would be coconut oil, since from what I've read it is more stable under hotter heats.

The more research I do I find that it's the heating of many things that make them not so good, such as oil.

Just make sure you get the bacon that is nitrate free! Trader Joe's has a good selection for a pretty good price
